RDRWind e.V.: DIN SPEC 4866 Already Very Popular

Hannover, 01.06.2021

The Industrial Association for Repowering, Dismantling and Recycling of Wind Turbines (RDRWind) will present itself as an exhibitor and as part of the presentation programme in Husum this year. We look forward to many interesting conversations at our booth: 3C21.

Moreover, we also invite you to our press conference on Sept 14, 2021 from 2.30pm to 15.15pm. The press conference in room 6 (conference centre) will be streamed online together with our partner associations to inform everybody about the success of the DIN SPEC 4866, whether they be operators, project developers, energy suppliers, manufacturers and service providers such as dismantling and logistics companies or representatives from politics. This new industry standard on the issue of “sustainable removal, dismantling, recycling and recovery of wind turbines” was published as a DIN SPEC in 2020 and is ranking among the TOP 10 industry standards at Beuth publishing company. The strategic implementation of the DIN SPEC 4866, its significance for authorities and decision makers and its future development will be the subject of the press conference and a presentation.

The innovative industry standard marks a milestone, because, jointly in a consortium with the Federal Environment Agency and supported by the DIN, RDRWind became the first organisation to develop dedicated dismantling guidelines that are geared towards practice for authorities and all those involved in and bearing responsibility for removal. The standard takes into consideration the concerns of the circular economy, sustainability, cost efficiency, professionalism and transparency as well as health and safety on the construction site.

The large number of members of RDRWind are solution providers from project development, repowering, energy supply, removal, recycling and waste disposal, recycling of rare earths, logistics, legal services, product and business consulting. The association is also gaining strength through members from the field of surveyors, exploration offices, specialist translators, research & development, start-ups, B2B portals and economic development agencies. Various academic institutions from the east and west have been adding their expertise to the association’s work since 2018. In addition, the association and its member companies are involved in national and European research and innovation projects on an ongoing basis.
